Books Up's main objective?
Books Up's mission is to collect the greatest number of books possible, so the schools we help can forget about having to obtain enough money to pay for new books. At the same time we also contribute to the education of children in developing countries. In our headquarters in
Barcelona we try our best to teach values such as effort, solidarity and empathy to our volunteers.
Who is behind Books Up?
We are a team mostly made up of secondary school students, but with adults involved as well. We are a multidisciplinary team of entrepreneurs involved in very different fields: creativity and design, languages, journalism, engineering, etc. And what brings us together is the desire to make the world a better place.
We are located in Premià de Dalt, Alella and Vilassar de Dalt; on the outskirts of Barcelona, where this project was born.
Where does all the material go?
We are currently working with 3 organizations:
- New Leaf Book Cafe in Siem Reap, Cambodia
- Sapa O'Chau Project in the Sapa Valley, Vietnam
- Wildlife Alliance in Chi Phat, Cambodia
I want to donate books. Where can I take them?
Choose the books in English that you wish to donate and send us an email with your address. Depending on your location we will let you know of the nearest collection point. If you do not have any of these near you we can pick them up at your place*.
*If you are located at a long distance from our headquarters you can send them to this adress

Why participate?
Volunteers find that being part of Books Up is a very rewarding experience. From making the education of boys and girls of their age possible, to participating in a project without intermediaries.
But the most important and touching reward can't be described in words. Each person will have a different experience...you will know it when you give up some of your books and see they have reached those boys and girls who have been anxiously waiting for them to arrive.
